7. Best Budget PSU: MONTECH Century
The Century series from Montech is aimed at gamers. It is almost enough for your 3080 Ti but at this price point, you could get a 1000W PSU easily.
Price aside, there is a lot that this PSU packs in. It is perhaps one of the smallest PSUs you will see with this capacity. On the outside, you will see classic honeycomb both on the rear as well as on the top of the unit.
Hardware Performance
The edges are nicely rounded and the color coating is pretty solid. The 120mm fan is probably the smallest in the category. Montech sources this very popular fan from Yate Loon. On the inside, it looks a little cluttered. The airflow could be a problem on heavy loads.
Design & Warranty
The only downside to this otherwise impressive unit is its limited 5-year warranty. The unit doesn’t struggle to maintain 90% efficiency at typical loads. The single +12V rail ensures a stable power supply.
The smaller fan remains quiet most of the time but with a max capacity of 1700 RPM, you can’t expect it to be the quietest. The efficiency drops only 3% down to 87% at full load. It hovers around 90% for most types of loads.
Conclusion
Overall it’s a good choice for those who want a smaller yet functional and good PSU for a competitive price. Given how young the manufacturers are and the short warranty period, it may take time for the Century series to pick up on sales.
